In addition to the standard safety management methods – e.g. relying on policies, procedures and training – Culture Change focuses on the Organizational Factors that influence the way people think and make decisions related to their safety and the safety of others.
Addressing safety culture is a “leading indicator” vs “lagging indicator” It is therefore extremely difficult to measure as it is proactive in nature. It reports on what we are doing on a regular basis to prevent potential injury and loss, rather than a particular result (lagging indicator).
Despite being a “leading indicator”, when done with sincerity, it will have a direct impact on Safety, Revenue and Cost.
